The Francophonie Gala held in Chișinău under the patronage of the MFAEI

21 March 2019, Chișinău – On the 20th of March, in the context of the International Francophonie Day, under the auspices of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, the Francofonie Gala and the award ceremony for the laureates of the francophone contests this year with the theme ,,Je parle... francophonie”. The event brought together numerous representatives of the francophone institutions, diplomatic missions, but also representatives with academic and socio-economic backgrounds.

In her speech at the opening of the event, State Secretary for Bilateral and Multilateral Affairs, Tatiana Molcean, welcomed the large number of participants in this year's edition, saying that this "provides a good opportunity to illustrate the educational dimension of the Francophonie and the impact of the initiatives dedicated to young people".

At the two contests this year - the contest of the best "meme" (a phenomenon on social networks that carries out various phenomena from everyday reality) and the contest of the best video presentation of a book from the Francophone literature little known to the general public - over 70 children and young people participated, 20 of them being awarded during the festive ceremony. The most ingenious and creative works have been granted special awards in various categories - Interculturality, Young Activist, French Language Challenges, Graphic Skills and Video Montage, Francophonie Junior.

"It is for the first time that the main actors of the Francophonie in the Republic of Moldova meet in this ceremony, a symbol of francophone solidarity and an important message that we convey to the public," Roxana Ţurcanu-Tolomey, Director of the University Agency of Francophonie in Chișinău.

The event also included an artistic program in the interpretation of francophone students from the Academy of Music, Theater and Fine Arts, "Mihai Eminescu" High School in Bălți, "Ion Creangă" State Pedagogical University.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration expresses sincere thanks to all the partners of the ceremony, a remarkable event in the program of the Month of Francophonie in the Republic of Moldova.

Note: The 4th edition of the event is organised by the Francophone University Agency with the support of the Embassies of France, Poland and Romania, the French Alliance, the Wallonie-Brussels Delegation and the French companies Pentalog, Orange and Le Bridge, being supported this year for the first time by the Swiss Cooperation Office in Chișinău and the Embassy of Canada in the Republic of Moldova, with residence in Bucharest.
